The "ABRC 18th Annual Poster Competition 2017" will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on October 6 (Friday), 2017 at the Poster Session Area, 4F, Humanities and Social Science Building, Academia Sinica (中央研究院人文社會科學館4樓壁報展覽區).

General Policies and Requirements for the Submission of Poster Abstract
Please read through the submission instructions listed below before preparing and submitting your abstract online.
Abstract Submission Instructions
  1. Deadline: Abstracts must be submitted ONLINE no later than 23:59 PM on the night of September 26 (Tuesday), 2017. This is a FIRM deadline (i.e., no exceptions). Abstract submitted after that date, or abstracts do not follow the rules will be automatically disqualified.

  2. Abstracts will only be accepted through completion of the ONLINE submission form, and submission in any other form will be declined.

  3. The abstract must be written in "English". Content of abstract will be limited up to a maximum of 250 words. Tables, figures and references should not be included in your abstract. Abstract that do not follow this limited number will be automatically disqualified.

  4. The authors whose abstracts were published or accepted in the year of poster competition are encouraged to indicate : (1) the name of the journal and (2) the year of publication.

  5. Abstracts will be provided to the reviewers as submitted. Proof and edit your submission accordingly.
Instructions for Posters
  1. Poster set up will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the Poster Session from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. In addition, participants should NOT remove the posters before 5:00 PM, in order to give the reviewers sufficient time to judge the posters. Reviewers will be allowed to view the posters throughout the entire poster session on, it is therefore all of the presenters should be participated and showing around the poster presentation time.

  2. The poster display space is 90 cm high x 140 cm wide. Prepare your poster accordingly. Posters cannot exceed these dimensions.
Poster Presentations
  1. The ABRC strongly encourages all the participants to enjoy this warm scientific atmosphere, to share your fantastic research findings with each other and to exchange your ideas, feedback and curiosity in this yearly exciting event.

  2. Please keep that in mind that you must present your poster in English. You will have 10 minutes (7 minutes presentation & 3 minutes Q/A) to give a presentation for each group of reviewers.

  3. The presenters should stand before your posters at the designated time slots.

  4. All the participants are required to keep the material and data of the posters in confidentiality. No photography and video recording is allowed!
Review and Notification
  1. The reviewers comprising all ABRC members and invited experts will review and score all posters. The poster committee will calculate the scores and decide which participants will be awarded based on an average score (total scores divided by total number of the reviewers) on each poster.

  2. The winners will be announced shortly after the poster competition. Awardees' Names will be posted on ABRC website.

    2-1. The top 20% of posters selected from Integrative Plant Stress Biology (iPSB) and Herbal Medicine Research (HMR)/Molecular Vaccine Technology (mVT)/Enzyme Biotechnology, respectively, will be selected based on the scores given by ABRC faculty or invited referees and to be awarded. The top 3 from each program will receive award certificate and the special gift, and the rest will receive the award certificate.

    2-2. Five awardees will be selected from ABRC members' votes, and the top 3 ranked posters will receive award certificate and a special gift, and the 4th and 5th place awardees will receive certificate.

  3. Scoring criteria

    3-1. All ABRC members (students, research assistants, and postdocs) are encouraged to score all eligible posters, and each poster will be scored on a scale of 0~100 points upon the accomplishment of the presenter in the ABRC, the quality of the research, presentation skills and poster art.

    3-2. The invited reviewers from ABRC or outside scholars are required to score all the posters assigned on the scoring sheets, and each poster will be scored on a scale of 0~100 points upon the same criteria as 3-1.
ELIGIBILITY
  1. Post-doctoral fellows, research assistants and graduate students who have joined ABRC for at least 6 months or more at the time of the poster competition.

  2. Graduate student participants must be under the support of any ABRC associated project.

  3. All post-doctoral fellows who have joined ABRC for 11 months or more should and are required to participate in the poster competition.

  4. Poster abstracts must be presented by one of the authors.

  5. Submission of the abstract should be performed by the leadership of the corresponding ABRC faculty.
